Therapeutic Botox® (botulinum toxin) goes beyond aesthetics. When injected into specific muscles, it can significantly reduce chronic tension, overactivity, and pain.

    • Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatories (like ibuprofen or aspirin) for 24–48 hours prior to reduce risk of bruising.

    • Avoid Botox if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or suspect you may be pregnant.

    • Inform us of any neurological conditions, medications, or previous Botox treatments.

    • Come with clean, makeup-free skin (for facial injections).

  • After a focused consultation and examination, Dr. Spinelli will determine the injection sites based on your specific symptoms. A fine needle is used to inject small amounts of Botox® into overactive muscles or sweat glands. A gentle vibration tool may be used to minimize discomfort. Treatment takes about 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated. There is no downtime — most clients return to regular activity the same day.

    • Avoid massaging or lying down for 4 hours post-treatment.

    • Skip strenuous activity, hot yoga, or sauna for 24 hours.

    • Effects begin to appear within 3–10 days and peak around 2 weeks.

    • For best results, track your symptom relief and share updates at follow-up.

  • It temporarily blocks nerve signals to overactive muscles or glands, reducing pain, tightness, or excessive sweating.

  • The medication is the same, but the dosage, injection sites, and purpose differ. Therapeutic use focuses on function, not appearance.

  • Botox® for medical indications is a Health Canada–approved treatment and may be eligible for reimbursement through extended health insurance. We provide detailed receipts for submission. We do not provide direct billing services.  Please check with your insurance provider. 

  • Typically 3–4 months. Some conditions may require more frequent or customized dosing.

  • Most clients describe only brief discomfort. A vibration tool is used during injection to distract and ease sensation.

  • Yes. Therapeutic Botox® can be safely combined with naturopathic care, stress management strategies, and manual therapies as part of an integrative plan.
